Animal Spotting
Woodside Country Park is a haven for an abundance of wildlife, from butterflies and damsel flies to herons and the kingfisher. Download our handout and see how many wild animals you can discover.
The site is adjacent to a working sheep farm. Springtime is exciting with the new born lambs jumping around the lush fields. You may also see and/or hear Rosemary the donkey who lives on the farm.
Pond Dipping
Kids always love pond dipping. Across the site there are numerous ponds, but who knows what aquatic life hides within them? Pond snails, whirligig beetles, pond skaters, frogspawn, tadpoles, water boatmen, duckweed… the list goes on. If you forget your net, don’t panic – Nets are available to buy in reception.

Wild Water Swimming
The Cider Mill Pool provides for a refreshing dip for those braving wild water swimming. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times!
Dragonflies and Damselflies
Look out for dragonflies and damselflies near our ponds where they can be seen hunting in the water. They are often mistaken for one another as they are both large flying insects with similar characteristics. However, if you want to spot them you must be fast as they are very quick, so try not to miss them!
Frogs and Toads
Toads tolerate drier habitats much more than frogs and therefore you will be able to spot them on land rather than in water. You will also find that toads prefer to ‘crawl’ rather than hop unlike their frog friends. Try and spot these amphibians in our ponds or streams!

New hot tub arrives in February 2018
From mid February 2018 the middle of our three Springpool lodges will have a hot tub on the verandah. To book this lodge ask for Springpools Lodge VIP. This will be the second of our lodges to have a hot tub - the other one being our Ledbury Lodge VIP
